The Pontiac Buggy Company

Edward M. Murphy founded the Pontiac Buggy Company at the age of twenty-eight as the carriage industry was spreading throughout the city. Within ten years his business was one of Pontiac's largest employers. In 1907 Murphy saw that the future was "horseless" and he formed the Oakland Motor Car Company and he died two years later.
