Dodge Main - Detroit-Hamtramck Plant

To meet explosive demand for their metal manufacturing, in 1910 John and Horace Dodge opened the massive Dodge Main factory in Hamtramck. Initially making Ford parts, this plant later built entire Dodge and Chrysler vehicles until 1980. In 1985 General Motors opened the Detroit-Hamtramck plant on the site, with added acreage, to build Buicks, Chevrolet and Cadillacs. This plant is due to close in 2019.
