DETROIT, Aug. 21, 2026 – MotorCities National Heritage Area has awarded $14,832 in 2026 Mini-Grants to 10 Michigan organizations for projects that preserve, interpret and promote the state’s automotive and labor heritage. The Mini-Grant Program provides up to $1,500 for short-term, high-impact projects that help move ideas from concept to reality. Unlike MotorCities’ larger Challenge Grants, Mini-Grants do not require a matching contribution and can support projects such as tours, field trips, conferences, lectures, planning and studies.
DETROIT, Aug. 20, 2026 – MotorCities National Heritage Area has awarded a total of $111,500 in Partnership Challenge Grants to seven Michigan organizations supporting projects that preserve, interpret and promote the region’s automotive and labor heritage. The grants provide awards of up to $25,000 and require recipients to match the funding through cash, in-kind contributions, donated goods and documented volunteer services. This year’s projects span automotive design, historic preservation, environmental recreation, youth education, heritage tourism and architectural study.
ANN ARBOR, Mich., July 22, 2026 – MotorCities National Heritage Area and Destination Ann Arbor are partnering to showcase the automotive history, cultural landmarks and community stories that helped shape the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti region through a new Day in the MotorCities: Road Trip to Ypsilanti itinerary.
Part of MotorCities’ growing collection of automotive heritage itineraries, “A Day in the MotorCities” invites visitors and residents to explore the people, places and innovations connected to Michigan’s automotive legacy. The initiative highlights destinations throughout MotorCities National Heritage Area’s 16-county region and provides travelers with curated experiences created in partnership with local destination experts.
DETROIT (June 9, 2026) – MotorCities National Heritage Area (MNHA), a Detroit nonprofit, servicing 16 counties with a mission to preserve, interpret and promote the region’s automotive and labor heritage today announced a transition in its Board of Directors, welcoming three new members who will help steer the organization into its next chapter. The nonprofit also thanks outgoing board members for their years of dedicated service, leadership, and passion for telling the story of how southeast and central Michigan “put the world on wheels.”
