Arc of Justice presents the story of  Dr. Ossian Sweet, a black man whose family moved to a white working-class neighborhood of Detroit in the 1920s. Like other African Americans who moved to Detroit during the automotive boom, Sweet tackled severe racism. Sweet’s court case significantly shaped the civil rights movement. Arc of Justice has been widely recognized, winning the 2004 National Book Award, a Pulitzer Prize nomination and the 2011 Great Michigan Read selection.
