Walk to Freedom

Henry Ford 150 Announces Full Tour Line-up
MotorCities National Heritage Area, in partnership with the Henry Ford Heritage Association, Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island and the Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau, is proud to announce the launch of the Henry Ford Driving & Audio Tours as part of the Henry Ford 150 celebration. Spanning three years from 2013-2015, this celebration focuses on the unique contributions and legacy of Henry Ford.

Grand Opening of World's Largest Model A Museum
The Grand Opening Celebration of the all-new Model A Ford Museum—the world’s largest public museum dedicated to the Model A—will take place Saturday, May 18, 2013 in Hickory Corners, MI. Fashioned after a 1928 Ford dealership, the new museum is located in southwest Michigan on the campus of the renowned Gilmore Car Museum – America’s Signature Collection.

Autopalooza 2013

Ed Bagale, Founder of MotorCities National Heritage Area, Retires from the MotorCities Board of Directors
On April 10, 2013, MotorCities National Heritage Area held their Annual Meeting with special tribute honoring Mr. Ed Bagale. Ed was a major contributor of founding MotorCities National Heritage Area and was a long term, dedicated, member of the MotorCities Board of Directors.

A Legacy of Giving Back

What do auto workers do on their days off? Many of them volunteer. Saturday my son and I volunteered to work the half way stop on Belle Isle for the Tour Detroit bike ride. This bike ride event raises funds for the Southwest Detroit Greenlinks, a nonprofit that develops bike lanes etc to promote cycling in the region.

200 Years of Peace

Thousands of visitors walked, biked and boated along the Detroit riverfront this week in celebration of Navy Week which was commemorating the bi-centennial of the War of 1812. This commemorative event hosted service members of the U.S. Navy, Marine Corp., Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy.
