Volunteer for MotorCities

Are you passionate about auto culture and history? Are you interested in engaging with folks about our rich automotive heritage and how 'We Put the World on Wheels?' MotorCities has a perfect volunteer opportunity for those interested in car culture and local history. We are seeking volunteers to attend the summer's premier car shows, cruises, races and other auto-related events that fall under our Autopalooza banner.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided for attendees. To RSVP for the event, please contact Austen Smith at 313-259-3425 or email asmith@motorcities.org.

The MotorCities National Heritage Area is a 501c3 non-profit organization that relies heavily on the hard work of our volunteers. Under the MotorCities Ambassador Program, volunteers are given access to some of the state's most exclusive automotive-related events such as the Concours d'Elegance, the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix, Old Car Festival and more.

Ambassadors are asked to speak on MotorCities' behalf at our Autopalooza events and other special events throughout the year. Volunteers must be prepared to promote the MotorCities NHA and our mission, as well as engage with the public about the region's rich automotive heritage.

Benefits of volunteering for the MotorCities include:

  • Special access to ticketed automotive events (subject to MotorCities' discretion)
  • You are contributing to the preservation and promoton of the automotive story in southeast Michigan
  • Exclusive access to MotorCities special events such as Motor Boats & Motor Cars
  • Volunteer T-shirt and other MotorCities SWAG
  • Special recognition at end of season

Volunteers are typically scheduled in 4-hour shifts at all events. Each volunteer is scheduled with another MotorCities Ambassador for each shift.
