Georgi-Ann Bargamian was born in Providence, RI and attended North Providence public schools. She has a bachelor’s degree from Emerson College in Mass Communications/Journalism and worked as a newspaper editor, reporter and photographer until 1989.
In 1989, Georgi-Ann moved to Michigan and began law school at Wayne State University Law School in 1990. She was a law clerk at the International Union, UAW Legal Department during the winter and spring of 1993 and graduated from law school in May of that year.
After graduating from law school, Georgi-Ann worked at the union-side labor law firm Miller, Cohen, Martens, Ice and Geary on traditional private and public sector labor law issues. She was hired by the International Union, UAW to serve as an Associate General Counsel in the International’s Legal Department in August 1995.
After the UAW’s 2010 Constitutional Convention, Vice President Cindy Estrada appointed Georgi-Ann to serve as her administrative assistant for the Public Sector & Health Care Servicing Department and the Women’s Department.
After the UAW’s 2014 Constitutional Convention, President Dennis Williams appointed Georgi-Ann to serve as the director of the UAW’s Education Department and Community Services Department.
Georgi-Ann is a member of the Michigan Democratic Party and the Coalition of Labor Union Women (CLUW). She is also active in metro Detroit’s Armenian-American community.
